Abrasion: excessive rubbing of enamel and dentine from, for example, tooth brushing or porcelain crowns
Attrition: through tooth grinding and clenching which normally occurs at night
Erosion: from eating acidic foods and drinks (figures 6 and 7) or having stomach acid problems (figure 8)

At the London Tooth Wear Centre, an evidence-based approach to comprehensive care is offered.
An early diagnosis is essential so that simpler treatment, including monitoring and prevention, may be provided.
On occasion, more complex treatment may be necessary to restore satisfactory function and a pleasing appearance.
